Residents of Madison County who pay high out-of-pocket costs for medicine because they don't have prescription drug coverage or because a prescription is not covered by their insurance policy will be able to save some money when a new program starts later this year. Madison County Board members unanimously approved an agreement with ProAct Inc., Wednesday, giving county residents the chance to apply for a prescription discount card.

Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan says the county has offered prescription discount cards for a number of years and that this program will only sweeten the deal for the county and its residents.

Dunstan says residents should receive that information in the mail within the next 90 days and that the program should be in full swing before the end of June.
