The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will have a new director from southern Illinois. Governor Bruce Rauner has named State Representative Wayne Rosenthal of Morrisonville to head the IDNR, replacing Marc Miller who will end his time with the department on Monday. Rosenthal has been in the Illinois House since 2011.
Rosenthal runs a grain business and farms land in Macoupin, Montgomery and Christian Counties. He was also chief sponsor of a bill that would have allowed the hunting of bobcats in Illinois. Governor Pat Quinn vetoed that bill before he left office. Rosenthal is also a 30-year veteran of the Illinois Air National Guard.
