Superintendent Dr. Ken Spells and the Alton School District have agreed to a new three year contract. The contract approved last night, takes effect July 1, 2014 and includes the same conditions and pay rate as his current contract. Spells is scheduled to make $163,200 annually but that figure could rise if district officials decide an increase is deserved following their evaluation of Dr. Spells in April.
School Board President Ed Gray says that it was important for two sides to reach an agreement when they did.
Gray also says the board is very pleased with Dr. Spells’ performance, noting the way he pushes teachers to improve education in the district and his involvement in the Alton community. The new contract expires on June 30, 2017.
