The East Alton Wood River High School Board has approved a new contract with its teachers union. The three year deal will include a pay increase in each year of the pact: 1.75-percent the first year, and 1.5-percent in the second and third years. The teachers union approved the contract earlier this week, and the school board approved the deal in a special meeting Wednesday morning.
The union has about 80 members, including teachers and support staff that all work at the high school in Wood River. The union is among the latest to approve a new contract. Alton teachers and the school board agreed to a new three year contract last week, and Edwardsville teachers also approved a new two year deal last week.
