Alton has a new contract with its firefighters’ union. The agreement is a four-year deal that runs until March 31, 2018, and includes raises of 1.5% the first two years, 1.75% in year three, and 2% the final year.
Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold says there are several changes in the new deal.

After 15 years of service, firefighters will now be allowed to move outside of city limits using the same map the police department uses. The old standard was 20 years. The deal is the first one done out of the five unions representing city employees.
