The St. Louis District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers appointed a new leader on Friday. Col. Anthony P. Mitchell was welcomed as the 51st commander for the St. Louis District during a ceremony on the grounds of the National Great Rivers Museum. Mitchell previously served as the Director of Operational Energy and Contingency Basing Task Force in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Army Energy. He also worked as the commander of the Corps’ Nashville, Tennessee District.
Mitchell replaces Col. Christopher G. Hall who is taking a position at the Army Capabilities Integration Center at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
