Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto will be expanding in the coming months, following last night's school board meeting. The board unanimously approved plans that would add five new classrooms to the southeast corner of the building. The project would be funded by grant money that the district recieved in 2002 and construction is expected to begin by late November or early December.
In other business the board agreed to withrawal of liability health coverage to Egyptian Trust-Meritan Health, a move that could mean the district losing money when all of the claims are accounted for this year. District Business Manager Russ Clover says that the district needs to save $283,000 to avoid losing money in that area.
Board members also unanimously supported renewal of the district lease with Xerox for printing services. The new five year contract with Xerox is based on the volume of items printed last year and if the district stays at that level, it will save $55,000 over the life of the deal.
