The Alton School District has released its proposed start and end times at each level as it heads toward implementation of a new "paired schools" plan. In order to successfully implement the paired school plan for elementary buildings, a change in school start and end times was required to accommodate the district’s bus transportation schedule.
Alton School Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Spells tells The Big Z as with any change, it will take some getting used to.

Under the plan the schools would be paired as follows: Lewis and Clark with North, Gilson Brown with West, and Lovejoy and Eunice Smith with East. The district expects a minimum cost savings of $560,000 annually under the new alignment.
