After a three month search, the City of Edwardsville has a new police chief. Multiple sources report Illinois State Police Major Jay Keeven was appointed to that post during Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Keeven is a 27-year veteran of the Illinois State Police. He has served multiple roles, most recently as the Director of Operations for District 11, where he oversaw daily operations in multiple units and supervised 550 personnel.
Keeven has a masters degree in public administration from the University of Louisville and a bachelor's degree from SIUE. He has also received special training in investigations, criminal interrogation and has secret security clearance from the FBI. His first day on the job will be February 16th.
