Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan hopes to place a Republican in a chair held until this week by a Democrat. Madison County Board of Review Chairman Kerry Miller, who has been on the board for nearly 30 years, resigned this week after word of receiving erroneous Homestead Exemptions.
While he would have to find a Democrat to fill the vacant seat on the Board of Review since the County Board majority is Democrat, Dunstan says current board member Bessie Powers would be his first choice to fill the Chairman vacancy.

Miller’s resignation takes effect October 31. He was asked to stay on through the end of the month by fellow board members to finish some work on the commercial properties in the county. Dunstan says the state may be contacted to hold an earlier Board of Review hearing for people to protest their taxes sometime after November 1.
