A growing convenience store chain in Southwestern Illinois is expanding into Godfrey. CC Food Marts, based in Breese, revealed plans to move into Godfrey earlier this year. To make way for a new store, the old Tomy’s Quik Check gas station at the corner of Montclaire Avenue and Bethany Lane was demolished.
That means there will be a brand new building going up, complete with fuel tanks to replace the ones that were removed after the store closed down about eight years ago. Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says the village is in the process of running sewer lines to the area – a plan that was already in the works when this deal was struck.

McCormick expects the store to open sometime in 2015. That store will be located next to the concrete plant that replaced Godfrey Speedway.
