Work on the new Mississippi River bridge project at St. Louis won't resume until a federal investigation is complete. The body of 35-year-old Andy Gammon of Park Hills, Missouri, was found yesterday, still tethered to the man lift he was operating when it fell into the water. The St. Clair County Coroner says it appears Gammon drowned.

Gammon fell into the water on Wednesday afternoon while working on the project to construct a new Interstate 70 bridge over the river. He was a carpenter who worked for Massman, Traylor Bros., and Alberici...all contractors on the site. Until this week, the $640 million project had been on schedule and on budget with no reported worker problems or injuries.
