The first Halloween Parade of the season is the one in Bethalto, which will take place around sunset next Wednesday, October 28. The parade will follow a different route than in years past. It will now include a parade route of about a mile, which one of the organizers says may lead to more participation.
Bethalto Rotary Club Vice President Melissa Tarrant tells The Big Z the new route starts at the corner of Prairie Street and Route 140 on the bank parking lot, and runs north on Prairie Street to City Hall.

Following the parade, Tarrant says there will be a costume contest for several age groups. If you are participating, you should be at the parking lot to line up at 6pm, with the parade stepping off at 6:30.
