Soon, anyone adopted in Illinois will be able to get a copy of their birth certificate. It may not seem like a big deal to some, but Representative Sara Feigenholtz of Chicago- who was adopted- says getting your hands on that piece of paper can help fill in the blanks.

But now, under a new state law, those born before January First, 1946 can request a copy of their original birth certificate. Those born after that date can start doing so on November 15th. For more information, log on to this story at
