A handful of concerned citizens routinely attend Alton's Neighborhood Problem Solving Meetings at St. Claire's Hospital in Midtown and at the Brown Street Baptist Church in the Milton area. These meetings sprouted out of the Weed & Seed efforts several years ago, and have proven to be a viable tool for communication with the people that live in these neighborhoods.
Alton Police Chief David Hayes says the more people to get involved, the more effective their neighborhoods will be at dealing with quality of life issues.
The next meeting will be this Thursday at the Brown Street Baptist Church at 6:30pm. The next meeting at St. Claire's Hospital will be May 15, also at 6:30. Each location hosts a meeting every other month.
