Illinois has some new entries on the National Register of Historic Places. Twenty-three buildings are new on the list, along with 11 historic districts that are either new in their entirety or have been expanded.

Some of the buildings were added with the hope that developers will take advantage of historic tax credits to repurpose buildings that are vacant or underused. Developers get an income tax credit for 20 percent of rehabilitation costs if they redevelop a historic structure.
