The Great Rivers Festival at the National Great Rivers Museum in East Alton was cancelled last fall when sequester cuts shut down the federal government. There was some concern the event would not be rescheduled, but plans are coming together to hold the festival in the spring, on May 17. The museum plans to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the museum as well as the 25th anniversary of the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton.
Park Ranger Erin Hillegoss – Volkman says they are working on a number of attractions for the festival.
