The St. Louis region is in shock after a mother is charged in the death of her one-year-old son. St. Louis County prosecutors yesterday filed second degree murder charges against 20-year-old Shelby Dasher. They say she admitted to repeatedly hitting baby Tyler Dasher when he wouldn't go to sleep. Shelby Dasher had originally reported her son missing.

His body was found near their Affton home several hours later. St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch says Dasher told them she had been out drinking the night before and became angry that the child would not go back to sleep. Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil last evening in Affton for the murdered toddler. Tyler Dasher was remembered as a happy, bubbly little boy. Some of those who were there had originally spoken out in support of Tyler's mom Shelby. But now that she's been charged with murder, they say they just want answers.
