Your next chance to weigh in on plans for the new Alton Regional Multimodal Transportation Center is coming up in about three weeks. The city has called the public hearing for Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30pm in City Council Chambers. The public will be allowed time to ask questions and offer comments.
Alton Development and Housing Director Greg Caffey tells The Big Z this meeting to review and consider for approval a Development Area Plan for the Multimodal Transportation Center, the high speed rail passenger terminal, and connecting road system:

Under the terms of the grant with the Federal Railroad Administration, the project must be completed by the end of 2016. There has been some work going on at the property. Caffey says extension of a water line from Oakwood onto the property has been completed and a minor archaeological find is being catalogued.
