A Granite City teacher is in the running to become the nation's most innovative and inspiring educator.  Jane Franko-York has been in the classroom for 29 years and now teaches fifth-graders at Wilson Elementary School. Franko-York says part of her job as an educator is to make sure students have every opportunity to succeed.

In fact, she says if she wins the contest, she'll spend a portion of the ten-thousand dollar prize on technology upgrades for her students. The contest is being conducted by a blog and magazine called "GOOD." Anyone who'd like to cast a vote for Franko-York can do so online at www.good.is/gato until October 30th.
