Alton police are investigating a number of vehicle burglaries that happened over the weekend, following several that took place in January in the city. The burglaries happened over a large geographical area, according to a police department spokesman.
Alton Public Information Officer Emily Hejna tells The Big Z most of the burglaries took place with vehicles that were left unlocked and valuables in plain sight:

Law enforcement experts say most criminals in these types of cases are looking for easy targets, and items typically stolen include wallets, purses, electronics, and cash.
