The Alton City Council has taken a few more steps toward the eventual completion of the Alton Multi-Modal Transportation Center.  Last night, the council approved the execution of a grant agreement with the Federal Railroad Administration to obligate the TIGER Grant funding for the project, and the city will also seek consulting services for the design and engineering of the center.

Greg Caffey, Alton Director of Development and Housing, says the two moves made by the council Wednesday night are big steps.

Caffey comments

The multi-modal transportation center will include a high speed rail station and Madison County Transit bus station, and limited commercial and residential development is being planned for the 55-acre site that was once the Wadlow Municipal Golf Course.
