Authorities continue to be on the lookout for sex offenders in Alton. Alton Police and U.S. Marshals conducted a day-long compliance check a week ago to make sure those on the list were living where they were supposed to be. Out of 88 stops, 39 were living at their listed address, but many others were either not located or not contacted at the reported residence and officers plan follow up visits.

One man, 36 year old Robert Ridenour of the 1200 block of West 9th Street, is charged with 12 counts of aggravated child pornography after authorities say they found the material on his home computer. Lieutenant Al Adams of the Alton Police Department says they are still going through last week's paperwork, but finding the others is still a high priority.

Police made 88 stops, but found more than a dozen were not residing where they were supposed to be. The 19 sex offenders that were found to be non-compliant will face felony charges for failure to register through the Madison County State's Attorney's Office.
