Wood River's soccer park and Belk Park Golf Course are in line for more improvements, as the city is again applying for a park enhancement grant through Madison County. Public Works Director Jason Woody says the improvements will include a new building near the driving range to house the ball machine, soda machine, and a few other things golfers may find handy to have close.

He says the rest of the money, which he says is around $24,000, will go toward upgrading the soccer park on Rock Hill Road.

The grant is normally good for about $42,000, but Woody says part of that is being used to pay back a loan they got through the county last year that allowed them to purchase golf carts and make other upgrades at the golf course.
