The Godfrey Village Board took more steps to bring a Business and TIF District to fruition at last night's board meeting. The board gave first reading to an ordinance to establish a B-5 Planned Business District for zoning purposes, and a reminder was read for a business district hearing and a TIF District hearing, which is a necessary move before the plan can go into effect.
The date has been set for February 7, beginning with the Business District hearing at 5:30 at Village Hall. Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says the B-5 predates talk of both the TIF and Business Taxing Districts.
The possibility of establishing a special use permitting process in the village was also given first reading. This will help address many problems associated with variances to zoning codes, according to McCormick.
