Free legal help for Madison County residents with limited means continues to be possible due to the work of the county’s Pro Bono Committee.  The committee was started as a way to reach out to those who may have felt legal representation in civil and family courts was out of their reach due to their circumstances.  The committee is now offering additional programs to county residents.

Judge Barb Crowder, Chair of the Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee says one focus of the committee is to make sure veterans have access to the legal help they can provide.

She says 48 attorneys have volunteered for that program.  They are available in cases where a judge deems it necessary in some child custody and visitation disputes.  If you would like to learn more about the committee, call 296-5921.
