More merchandise is hitting store shelves as the City of Alton celebrates its 175th anniversary this year. The latest addition is the commemorative Christmas Ornament, which is being sold at the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau office at the corner of Broadway and Piasa Street in Downtown Alton.

The merchandise is a small but important part of what's going on this year. In addition to the ornaments, time is running out to purchase the commenorative license plates, according to Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau President Brett Stawar.

The city has been working with several organizations including local schools, the Alton Little Theater, Hayner Public Library and several other groups on various projects to celebrate it's 175th Anniversary. The Alton Little Theater is planning to focus this year's Vintage Voices on people who were living in Alton as close to 175 years ago as possible.
