What was to be a pair of new outbuildings at Godfrey’s Monticello Plaza will now be just one. The second outbuilding is in the process of being torn down before it was even completed and there may be an interesting reason as to why.
The plaza has been without an anchor store for some time, as Hoods lasted less than a year, and the building sat empty for a while before that after Park-N-Shop closed.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says he has heard that may be changing soon.
The other building is complete, and two tenants are nearly ready for business. A Pizza World franchise should open in early 2014, and will be neighbored by a Verizon Wireless store.
