The Martin Luther King Junior Bridge between East St. Louis and St. Louis will reopen this afternoon.  The Illinois Department of Transportation says rehab work on the bridge was completed earlier than planned, so IDOT can reopen the span.

IDOT says the bridge will reopen by 4pm today, along with the ramp off St. Clair Avenue to westbound I-55/64.  After the bridge is reopened to traffic, there will be periodic temporary closures of the bridge over the next several months to complete minor work items and remove the contractor’s scaffolding.
