A tax break for Missouri residents who buy cars in Illinois could be coming to an end. Lawmakers in the Show Me State are pushing a bill that would reinstate local sales taxes on vehicles bought in other states. According to the bill's sponsor, Missouri has lost 43-million dollars in sales taxes from out-of-state sales.
A typical St. Louis-area resident can currently save up to four-percent of the total price of a new car by buying in Illinois.
