A few days of heavy rains over the past couple of weeks has pushed the Mississippi and other rivers above flood stage in parts of Illinois and Missouri. With all of the rain that fell across the two states, there has been significant flooding coming downstream. Locally, there has been some minor flooding in Alton, but the river is expected to be back in its banks by the weekend.
Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold tells The Big Z they aren’t too worried about the flooding on land, but boaters might want to use extra caution.
