If you are in Alton Saturday morning, be ready for some extra traffic in one of its historic neighborhoods.  Portions of certain streets in the Middletown area will be closed tomorrow to facilitate the Miles for Meso walk and run sponsored by the Simmons Law Firm.  Miles for Meso is a 5K race and 2K fun run/walk that takes place in celebration of National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

The road closures form a course that includes portions of 4th Street, Court Street and George Street.  Course marshals and signs will mark the route.  If you are coming into town for the event, you are being directed to several lots located north of the law firm building at the corner of Easton & Court streets, along Alby Street between E. 3rd and E. 5th streets and at Alton City Hall, 101 E. 3rd Street. Additional public parking is available along Market & E. 4th streets.  The 2013 race raised approximately $25,000 for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
