One person was arrested and others may face charges this week after East Alton Police recovered materials used to manufacture methamphetamines inside a house located in the 100 block of Tomlinson Street, in East Alton on Friday morning.

The Illinois State Police Meth Response team was called to the scene to remove hazardous materials and police say that it appears that the occupants were manufacturing the drug through the "shake and bake" process, rather than through operating a large lab.

An unidentified, female, occupant of the residence was arrested at the scene and remains in the custody of East Alton Police with formal charges likely to be filed on Monday. Police also say that children occupied the house, but were not present when the search was conducted. Their information will be sent to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for review.
