St. Anthony's Cancer Center of Excellence is teaming up with the 100 Black Men of Alton to offer men's health screenings tomorrow at St. Clare's Hospital on Fifth Street. Beginning at 3pm, men with an appointment will be given a free PSA blood test, as well as digital rectal exams by Dr. James Piephoff, Board Certified Radiation Oncologist.
Dr. Alex Gorbonos, assistant professor of urology at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, says risk factors for prostate cancer include family history and age. He says most patients with prostate cancer have no symptoms until it is advanced or spreads to other organs.
Screenings are designed for men age 50 and older who have not been previoously screened for prostate cancer. To make an appointment, call 465-2264.
