The U.S. Attorney's Office for Southern Illinois has announced the convictions of two area men for failing to file income tax returns.  Both men are independent truck drivers, and were sentenced to five years probation and five months home detention, as well as having to pay restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.

56 year old Kenneth Cherry, Sr., of Cottage Hills had not filed income tax returns since 2005, and 62 year old Mo Chaney of Washington Park had not filed returns since 2007.   Cherry must pay back nearly 31-thousand dollars, while Chaney has to pay the IRS more than 40-thousand dollars.
