People across Illinois and Missouri are lining up to buy their lottery tickets. The multi-state Mega Millions lottery has now hit 640-million dollars. That the biggest jackpot in lottery history, topping the record set in 2007, when two winners split a 390-million-dollar prize.
Illinois' education system is getting a big boost thanks to a record setting Mega-Millions jackpot. Illinois Lottery Spokesman Mike Lang says 40 cents on every dollar sold in the state benefits the Common School Fund.
Lang says they're expecting about one million ticket sales per hour after people get off work, so the jackpot could go even higher by the time of the drawing later tonight.
