This Sunday's first installment in the speaker series at the National Great Rivers Museum at the Mel Price Lock & Dam will feature Eddy L. Harris (pictured), author of Mississippi Solo, which chronicals a canoe trip he made from the headwaters of the Mississippi in Minnesota to the mouth in New Orleans. There will also be an eagle meet and greet, with one of the majestic birds brought over from the World Bird Sanctuary.
Natural Resource Specialist Janet Mifflin says Harris' trip makes for a good story.
The National Great Rivers Museum at the Mel Price Lock & Dam is dedicated to telling the story of the Mississippi River, from its history and cultural significance, to the ecological importance and role as a transportation corridor. Tomorrow's program runs from noon-4pm.
