In commemoration of its twentieth anniversary of bike-way development, Madison County Transit is announcing the reconstruction of the Ronald J. Foster Heritage Trail in Glen Carbon. The trail is just another example of what can be done when various agencies choose to work together for a common purpose, according to an agency spokesman.
In particular, the common goal is the repurposing of old railroad right-of-ways, according to MCT's S.J. Morrison.
May is National Bike Month and construction on the Foster Trail will begin in a few weeks. The Ronald J. Foster Heritage Trail runs from the MCT Nickel Plate Trail at Miner Park in Glen Carbon northeast past the MCT Goshen Trail and ultimately to Silver Creek where it connects to the MCT Heritage Trail.
