Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick underwent open heart surgery on October 28th and is optimistic he could return to work as soon as next week. McCormick has been home for nine days and has communicated daily with Village Leaders, including Mayor pro tem Eldon "Twirp" Williams, Director of Streets and Roads Jim Lewis, and Village Administrator Judy Peipert.

Recovering from open heart surgery typically takes between three and five weeks and McCormick hopes that doctors will allow him to oversee next Tuesday's Village Board meeting. However, he must be cleared by doctors before returning to work full-time.
