The problems with the budget and in general in Springfield are shaking many state funded colleges and universities but some of them are taking care of the problem by giving students some financial slack. The Senate Higher Education Committee held a hearing Thursday at John A. Logan College in Carterville about lowering tuition. McCarter says other state schools could learn from the leadership shown by John A. Logan College, Illinois College, Rend Lake College, Shawnee Community College, and Southwestern Illinois College. The next hearing on the schedule is today at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
