Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says he believes the village is primed for more growth, although it’s not happening as quickly as he would like.  Despite the lack of speed in development, McCormick says there are things happening in the village and is optimistic for 2016.

A hotel study this year showed Godfrey could sustain a 60-room facility and he says developers are working on securing investors.  McCormick says there’s growth at Monticello Plaza, and he says development of a Show Shoe store is expected near Wal-Mart in the new year.  The mayor says the newly opened gas station outside Wal-Mart is also unique:

McCormick says recent creation of TIF districts; enterprise zones and business districts will hopefully continue to attract news businesses to Godfrey.
