Bethalto Mayor Steve Bryant has announced that he will not seek reelection in April, bringing a close to his 24-year political career, which included 16-years as the village's mayor. Bryant says he expects to see many of the usual candidates run in the upcoming election, but he already knows who he will be endorsing.
Winslow is currently serving on the village board, finishing out the term of Donald Flack, who stepped down earlier this year after being appointed Associate Judge in Madison County. Bryant also says that whoever follows him will have a much easier transition into office than he did 16 years ago as officials have laid out both a comprehensive and master plan for the village's future.
As for Bryant, once he leaves office in April he is looking at several different career paths, but is leaning toward seeking a consultant position with an energy aggregation firm.
