The month of May was warmer and wetter than normal in Illinois.  Average statewide precipitation came in at 5.6 inches, about one inch above normal.  State Climatologist Jim Angel says rainfall varied across Illinois last month.

The statewide average temperature for May was about 64.5 degrees, which is 2.3 degrees above normal.
