Area lawn and garden enthusiasts can get intensive horticulture training through University of Illinois Extension's Master Gardener program. The training program consists of weekly sessions that run from January through April, but registration is going on now. It costs $225 for the 16 week course. That includes a copy of the Illinois Master Gardener manual and attendance to the training classes.
Participants get more than 60 hours of in-depth instruction on a variety of topics. Master Gardener Carolyn Wannagat explains what attracted her to the program.
The Master Gardener training will be held on Tuesdays, January through April from 9am-3:30pm, and rotates between Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair Counties. For more details, contact the Madison-Monroe-St. Clair Extension Unit at 618-939-3434.
