The Illinois Department of Transportation is a couple of months into a major project that will bring big changes to a major Riverbend thoroughfare. A complete resurfacing will be done through the summer months and well into the fall on Illinois Route 140 between Alton and Bethalto. Patching work began a couple of months ago.
It is a $5.4 million project. IDOT Field Engineer Joe Gasaway says work is progressing nicely, and there have been no major surprises.
There will be lane restrictions between Annex Street in Alton and Williams Street in Bethalto at various times throughout the project in order to complete the work. The project end date is projected to by November 30.
