Changes are coming to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.  The school administration has announced it will implement a new grading scale and weighted grading scale for honors and AP courses beginning immediately. Marquette Principal Mike Slaughter says it’s a move to level the playing field for students as they compete for scholarships.

Slaughter tells the Big Z they were planning to make the change for next school year, but decided with placement exams in a few weeks it would be good information to get out to potential students.  Slaughter says these days’ colleges look not only at test scores, but also at grade point averages:

Slaughter said by implementing the new grading scale immediately, they would actually go back to the beginning of the school year and update all grades for current students for the first semester.
