Some Illinois residents are being reimbursed after they were charged for services they never signed up for.  Affinion Marketing Group has reached a 30-million-dollar settlement after allegedly deceiving customers into signing up for discount clubs and membership programs.  The Group offered a variety of services including credit monitoring, roadside assistance, and discounted travel deals.

On many occasions, the company sent a direct mail offer that looks identical to a check, but when the customer deposited it, it authorized Affinion to bill them every month for membership programs.   Many times the customers weren’t aware that they’d been enrolled in the programs until they saw the charges on their credit card bills.  Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of the scheme should call 800-386-5438.
