A pair of Alton High School graduates is moving their manufacturing company from its current location in Earth City, Missouri to a new facility in Jerseyville. Described as part industrial distributor and part precision machine shop, Applied Engineering Plastics Incorporated will be moving into Jerseyville’s industrial park, and should be up and running in about a month.
The company produces parts for agricultural companies like Case, New Holland and John Deere, as well as clients in the food processing, aerospace, transportation and medical industries. Company President Kyle Steiner says Jerseyville provided an attractive alternative to their current location.

He says the availability of TIF funding played a major role in their decision to relocate in Jerseyville. Steiner and Pete Kuhn founded the company in 2006, and employ 11 people when fully staffed. There will be two new hires coming on board right away, with the potential for more in the future.
