A group of State Senators say they will work on passing an automatic voter registration law during the spring legislative session.  The measure would sign Illinoisans up to vote automatically whenever they apply for, renew, or update their driver's license or state ID.

State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) is one of the bill's sponsors.  He says it will save state and local governments money and increase turnout on Election Day.

Manar says two other states, Oregon and California, are starting to implement automatic voter registration.
