The former Macoupin County Board Chairman turned State Senator Andy Manar is looking at a piece of legislation he sponsored as a key to further enhancing Central Illinois' ability to do business. Senate Bill 1251 grants the Central Illinois Econimic Development Authority the same ability to create Enterprise Zones as many other regional economic development authorities across the state. The measure passed the Senate unanimously, and now awaits action in the House.
Manar is a Democrat, but feels he can reach across party lines to get things done at the state level.
Manar has been a rising star on the political scene in Macoupin County since being elected mayor of Bunker Hill at the age of 21, and was elected to the 48th District State Senate seat last november.
